The Klickitat Ape Cat

Mysterious Black Panther-Like Creatures

In less than a year, more than 60 Klickitat Ape Cat reports have been filed at Margie’s Outdoor Store. Some date back 40 years. They all describe a large, muscular black cat with a long tail. In some reports the fur is 4-5 inches long. This coloration very odd because it is supposed to be genetically impossible for Pacific Northwest cougars to grow black fur.

About half of the reports say the creatures are enormous… up to five feet tall at the shoulder. That’s bigger than a tiger, the largest cat on the planet. Finally, a handful of the reports say the beasts possess intelligent eyes and a flat face that resembles a monkey.

The creatures’ unusual color, size, and facial features are just some of the clues that these creatures may be paranormal. Other clues include electromagnetic disturbances like batteries suddenly dying and compasses giving strange readings when its presence. A few witnesses also report that the creature seems to be able to quickly vanish from sight.

Stories about supernatural black panthers can be found in many historic cultures around the world. In those stories, such creatures are almost always depicted as powerful protectors. It is common for these magical panthers to have to shapeshifting abilities. This may explain some of the discrepancies in the witness descriptions from Klickitat County.

No one has reported a hostile encounter with the creatures. Many witnesses have been startled by it and expressed concern about being close to such a large beast. Others report no fear at all and that their encounter felt exhilarating or even magical. At least one witness reported the creature had young cubs with it.
